“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he…”
The level of wisdom found in this proverb has as much meaning today as when it was first spoken.
You become what you think about. You achieve what you think you are capable of achieving. Your thoughts have the power to bring your dreams to reality as much as they have the power to destroy them.
You can use your thoughts to break your own spirit, or use them to maintain your enthusiasm.
It’s all up to you.
You Can Change Your Life by Renewing Your Mind
When we aren’t satisfied in our lives, the best thing any of us can do is to begin shifting our mindset.
While it might feel as though you need to keep pushing that heavy boulder up the hill by force, sometimes you simply need to recoup your energy and focus it where it’s best used. By exploring your mind, you may find you don’t even need to get the boulder up the hill in the force place.
Only the mind has the power to take you from where you are to where you want to be.
If you consider your mind to be a full ecosystem, how you populate that ecosystem will determine whether you flourish or wither. You can begin by speaking more positively, as positive affirmations help develop a healthy mindset, like planting seeds in a garden, while the opposite is true for a negative mindset, like letting weeds fester.
Entertaining demoralizing thoughts will leave you discouraged. So, begin replacing “I can’t” with: “I can go as far as I want to go.” Replace “I’m not good enough” with: “I’m getting good at this.”
Once your mind begins dwelling on positive thoughts, anything is possible.
High Achievers Always Use Their Minds to Get What They Want
Former US President Abraham Lincoln only received a basic education, yet he did not let that stop him from becoming who he wanted to be. The fact that he did not go to college didn’t stop him from reaching for his dreams.
When he decided he wanted to be a lawyer, he started teaching himself law by reading books and eventually became a reputable lawyer. He wanted to fight slavery and become the President of the United States and he achieved what he wanted.
It all started with his renewed mind and focused thoughts.
Amidst fierce opposition, he fought a good fight and played a major role in abolishing slavery. He also became the 16th president of the United States of America, as he once said he would.
Today, millions of people look up to the late Former US President Abraham Lincoln. He is an inspiration to millions of people around the world. He is remembered for his greatness, his work, as well as his determination to fight for what he believed in.
He proved you can be anything and everything you want to be as long as your mind is set up correctly.
Become Who You Want to Be by Resetting Your Mind
As we said above, the best way to begin resetting your mind is to start getting rid of negative thoughts and substituting them with healthy and productive ones. Crowd your mind with thoughts of greatness to bring out the brilliance in you. We can’t overstate how powerful a healthy and positive mind is.
Find a set of affirmations to say every morning that will convince your mind that you are great. You may want to start smaller, something closer to your own reality, rather than making affirmations that you know aren’t quite true to you (at least not yet). Find affirmations that speak to your inner character, rather than circumstances.
Do these affirmations with enough emotion and open-mindedness, and you will start acting on them in small but satisfying ways. This will only build with time and further support the evidence that these affirmations are actually true. The more you believe in what you are saying, the more effective they become.
The minute you start believing you are worthy and valuable is the minute you start acting as such, and the minute you start acting that way is the minute you can make meaningful progress towards your goals.
Renewing Your Mind Involves Letting Go of Your Past
Albert Einstein said: “problems cannot be solved by thinking within the framework in which they were created.”
You can only solve your problems by changing your way of thinking. If you think your problem cannot be solved, then you will fail to come up with solutions that work. Likewise, if you see your problem differently and believe it can be solved, coming up with the right solution becomes probable.
No matter what your problem is, it can rarely be solved from the same level of thinking you were in when it occurred.
Whether in your personal relationships, your professional life or your academic life, you need to rise above the pain of failure, disappointments, and regrets of the past, if you are to find new ways of dealing with your current problems. Going about the problems by doing the same things, and by being tied to the same emotions of the past, isn’t going to solve anything.
The best thing you can do is leave your past behind. This is easier said than done, but awareness is key.
Take some time to feel through some of the situations from your past. Observe these events with mindfulness and gentle awareness, and see them just as they are: as memories. Look for things you could have learned from the situation, or simply just feel the emotions that you’ve avoided facing for all these years.
By getting in touch with your past, you will find it has less power over you. This will allow you to seek out new solutions and begin finding better solutions for your current problems.
Renewing Your Mind Will Help You Focus On Your Future
Once you renew your mind and stop living in the past, you will be limitless.
Your new mindset will show, as it will be evident in everything you do. Your relationships will be more pleasant; your work more exciting; and even your health will improve.
You will forget about unpleasant things in your relationships and begin looking for ways of making things work. Instead of giving up, you will be able to find the solutions far easier and develop stronger bonds for the future.
If you want to live a renewed life, start looking for ways to turn things around. Apply the above steps to clear up your mind, and your life will clear up in the process.
Before you know it, you will be on the right path to where you are destined to be.
